All shells have been picked off the shores of Ni’ihau by the native people. This lei is tied in Maunaloa Style using ‘Oma’oma’o (patterned green), Maku’e (brown), and ‘Akala Wai Papipi (hot pink) Kahelelani shells.
It is approx. 24-inch long. Closed with two Poleholeho (Bumpy Cowries) with a 14k gold hook and eye clasp.
All shells are picked and made by native families of Ni’ihau. In accordance with Hawai’i state law, H.B. No. 2569, all shells in this piece contain at least 80% Ni’ihau shells and are made in Hawai’i. The percentage of shells from Ni’ihau is 100%.
