"Naupaka Kuahiwi (Mountain)" 8" x 8" Art Print

This "Naupaka Kuahiwi (Mountain)" 8x8 Art Print from Aloha de Mele is available at Pop-Up Mākeke. It was inspired by Hawaii's beauty, culture, and people. It was created to make a statement, exude good vibes, and spread the aloha spirit.

The moʻolelo (story, tale, myth, legend…) of the naupaka shrub varies depending on the source. However, the theme of forbidden love is often at the center; a tale of two lovers separated -one to live in the mountains and one to live by the sea.

This is why both the Naupaka Kuahiwi (mountain) and the Naupaka Kahakai (beach) bloom only half the flowers. It is said that if both halves are picked and joined, it will rain - a reminder of the love that could not be.

This digital illustration was hand-drawn by JT Ojerio, the artist behind Aloha de Mele. This print was professionally printed in Honolulu, Hawai'i.

    Features:

    • Dimensions: 8" x 8" Half Mat
    • Professionally printed in Honolulu, Hawai'i
